Ghost Ranch
Rest, re-energize, and discern after four full conference days in this minimally-programmed retreat.Â
Ghost Ranch is just one hour north of Santa Fe. Here, huge cottonwood trees border the Rio Chama, mountains rise in the distance, and the nearby landscape soars and swoops with cliffs and table-topped mesas, offering vistas that naturally lead you to wonder and contemplation.
We’ll able to process and ponder the rich teachings and experiences from the conference in sharing circles with fellow attendees and SDI staff, or in solitude.
We’ll be invited into morning and evening storytime and teachings around ritual with Native elders around the fireside. Â
We’ll have lots of space for spontaneous spiritual companionship to arise. Â
We’ll have opportunities for landscape painting, horseback riding, guided hikes, and behind-the-scenes museum tours. Yoga will be available, as well as body work, contemplative canoeing, and a tour of Georgia O’Keeffe’s home and studio. Â
Retreat Guides
Pat McCabe (Weyakpa Najin Win, Woman Stands Shining), our Conference Ritualist, will guide us as we experience the simple and the deep: baking and breaking bread, walking on the land, creating transmission and empowerment rituals. Â
Optional Activities
Some optional add-on activities that may be available for an additional cost:
- Morning yoga class. Mats and props provided
- Contemplative paddling on Abiquiu Lake in kayaks or canoes, with a guide
- Landscape painting excursion on a restricted part of the ranch with direct views of Cerro Pedernal
- Georgia O’Keeffe Trail Ride for riders of all skill levels
- Anthro museum behind the scenes tour with museum curator and anthropologist
- Entering the Landscape guided hikes ranging from easy to difficult
- Art studio approaching art as a contemplative practice
- Bodywork sessions including massage, polarity therapy, cranio-sacral, reflexology, acupressure and reiki
- Christ in the Desert Monastery offsite tour for vespers at the Benedictine monastery
- Georgia O’Keeffe Home & Studio Tour
Registration and payments for these add-ons will be
directly between the attendee and Ghost Ranch.
Transportation
SDI will provide shuttle bus transportation to and from Ghost Ranch. Â
- We depart at 4:00pm on Sunday, May 15 from downtown Santa Fe, arriving at Ghost Ranch around 5:30pm.
- Buses return to Santa Fe on Thursday, May 19, departing from Ghost Ranch at 9:00am, arriving in downtown Santa Fe by 10:30am.
- If there is enough interest, the bus can also drop off at Santa Fe regional airport, but please note that it does not continue on to Albuquerque. Please arrange your ongoing travel from Santa Fe.
What's Included?
Retreat costs include 4 nights lodging, 11 hot meals, use of the Agape complex meeting area and other Ghost Ranch facilities, conservation fee, and all retreat programming.
Cancellation Policy
Refunds (less the $150 non-refundable Ghost Ranch registration fee) will be provided with written notice prior to February 16, 2022. On or after February 16, 2022, up to and including April 15, 2022, SDI will issue 50% refunds (less the $150 non-refundable registration fee). Refunds will not be issued after April 15, 2022.
