Profile: Oliver is the co-founder of Spiritual Grounding, a dynamic platform for helping people find their roots in the Ignatian spiritual tradition. He is passionate about translating the ancient wisdom of the “Spiritual Exercises” for modern audiences and helping people awaken to God’s presence in their lives through their lived experience. Oliver currently serves as Cornell University’s Associate Dean of Students for Spirituality and Meaning-Making, providing leadership for the growth of dynamic interfaith, spiritual, and meaning making programs. Additionally, he provides oversight and support to Cornell United Religious Work, Cornell’s long-running chaplaincy program. Prior to his work at Cornell, Oliver served as Faith Formation Campus Minister at Loyola University Chicago. During his time at Loyola, he built a vibrant community of Ignatian faith-sharing groups and led Ignatian retreats. He also took numerous courses in the Spiritual Exercises and received a certificate in Ignatian spiritual direction. Oliver earned his B.M. in Voice Performance from Gordon College and his M.Ed. in Religious Education from Boston College. He has held numerous other positions in student leadership development and music ministry. Oliver enjoys running, hiking, singing, cooking, bird-watching, and spending time with his partner and puppy.
