What is spiritual direction?
Spiritual direction, also known as spiritual companionship, is one-on-one spiritual guidance. Spiritual direction can be useful for people from all faith traditions or none, helping directees reflect on their spiritual questions, journeys and longings. Spiritual direction can be particularly useful for Unitarian Universalists, the spiritual but not religious, and people who identify as interfaith. Spiritual direction helps with discernment, exploring spiritual practices like meditation, art or prayer, and awakening to the spiritual dimension of our lives.
I will accompany you on your spiritual journey as your companion or guide. I won't lecture you, or force you into a box. I will use tools like deep listening, thoughtful questions, and intuition to help you come alive. I help my clients connect to their higher selves, perceive where the sacred is showing up in their lives, and connect with deep inner vitality and wisdom. I approach my work from a posture of playfulness, sincerity, and reverence.
About me
Melody Moberg (she/her) is a Unitarian Universalist ministerial candidate, spiritual director, and hospital chaplain. She graduated with a Master of Divinity from Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry in 2022 and received a certificate in Spiritual Direction through the Phoenix Center for Spiritual Direction in 2023. She is trained in the evocative method of spiritual direction.
Melody has a background in the arts, preaching, end of life care, chronic illness, and work with youth and young adults. She loves helping people make meaning in their lives. In her free time, Melody has a passion for fibrecraft and graphic novels.
Fees and session structure
I am offering spiritual direction in person in Tacoma, WA, over the phone, and via video conferencing, such as Zoom. I have a disability which makes prolonged video-on Zoom calls painful for me, so Zoom sessions will be primarily conducted with video off.
I offer spiritual direction for 50 minute sessions at a sliding scale fee of $50-$150. Most clients attend spiritual direction once per month.
I would be delighted to schedule a free 15 minute consultation to learn about what you're looking for in spiritual direction, answer questions, and give you a chance to discern whether you'd like to make an appointment.
