Profile: A trans and non-binary Catholic with experience in the Episcopal church, I describe my institutional affiliation as treading water where the Tiber and the English Channel meet - drawing on the richness of both these traditions (and many others). The child of immigrants, I have experience with the complicated relationship of culture and religion, especially when it comes to journeying and discerning gender and sexuality. Often finding myself on the margins or churches, I am drawn to walk with those who feel spiritually homeless or displaced from their traditions. Geographically based in San Diego, California, I was trained in spiritual direction through the Still Harbor program and am available for spiritual accompaniment or direction both in-person and online. I view my role as a spiritual director as serving to be a mirror, helping to reflect the movings of the Spirit within you back to you. I have served as a college chaplain as well as pastor of a parish (in the Roman Catholic Women Priest movement) and draw on monastic wisdom in my accompaniment practices. My formation included an MDiv from Harvard Divinity School, an STM from Boston University School of Theology in Trauma and Theology, and a PhD in Queer and Trans Studies in Religion from the University of California, Riverside. My particular strength and focus is queer and trans folks who feel displaced from their traditions and helping people develop the liturgical and theological resources to reclaim spiritual and faith traditions. When not teaching or leading workshops, I can usually be found overanalyzing pop culture, sailing tall ships, debating craft projects with my cats, or plotting my next national parks trip.
