Profile: My name is Katherine Greiner. I hold a Ph.D. in Theology and Education from Boston College’s School of Theology and Ministry and currently teach theology at Carroll College in Helena, Montana in the United States. I have long had a passion for spiritual care and direction, but only recently responded to the call to become a spiritual director when my own journey and experience of grief and loss led me to a wilderness of sorts, where I learned more and more about the Divine and myself. In this wilderness I answered a call to be trained as a spiritual director. In 2023, I earned a certificate in spiritual direction from the Global Online Benedictine Spiritual Direction Program at Benet Hill Monastery. While my religious and spiritual background and theological training are primarily rooted in the Catholic-Christian tradition, I am open to directing people from all walks of life and spiritual backgrounds.

I understand spiritual direction, or spiritual companionship, to be a ministry of accompanying another in their life’s journey, particularly in their relationship with the Divine, the Holy One. It is an intimate relationship in which the director and directee enter sacred space and sacred time to listen and attend to the movement of the Holy in and through the particularities of the directee’s unique journey of faith and relationship with God. This sacred space and sacred time is marked by radical hospitality, where they will be welcomed and embraced exactly as they are in that particular moment. Nothing is off the table in this sacred space. All joys and sorrows, peccadillos and idiosyncrasies, habits and dreams, hopes and fears, experiences of everydayness and over-the-moon-ness are invited and held in this sacred space, for all of the human experience is God’s canvas.

I am located in Helena, Montana. I am open to in-person or remote sessions.
