Profile: Hello, Friend. People have told me I'm a good listener. I have many years of experience in Holy Listening, as a friend, a spiritual companion, a trained spiritual director. I listen with respect and compassion. I am non-judgemental. I consider each meeting a sacred trust. All human beings have an inborn desire for a Higher Power, a supreme Being, for heaven, for the Great Spirit, the Force of the universe, for ultimate Life and Love. That is, for God. Most top philosophers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and theologians all agree on this. "Ultimately, our yearning for God is the most important aspect of our humanity; it gives our lives meaning and direction." (Gerald G. May, M.D.) "It is a very specific desire for an actual loving communion in an absolutely personal relationship with God." (G. May) I am an experienced spiritual companion, a trained spiritual director, in helping people connect with God, and grow in their personal relationship with God our Father. Each person is a daughter or a son of God, very much loved by the Father. So when I meet you I begin with respect and Holy listening. I am a former Jesuit priest, and I draw mainly from the spiritual principles of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit religious Order of brothers and priests. St. Ignatius' teachings on the spiritual life are found mainly in his Spiritual Exercises, a source for meditation, discernment of spirits, etc. Ignatius of Loyola began learning the principles of the spiritual life in 1521, the year of his conversion from a sinful soldier to the service of Christ. His Spiritual Exercises have stood the test of time for 500 years. Today Ignatian Spirituality is more taught than ever. I also was a certified high-school teacher of English, Latin, French, Spanish, the Bible, and Theology. I taught in Dallas, New Orleans, Tampa, and Macon, GA, where I retired near family. As a Jesuit priest I was based in Louisiana, and I directed retreats, did parish ministries, and provided spiritual direction/guidance. I grew up in a military family so we moved frequently. Baseball was my passion as a boy. My other passions include music, gardening, sports, foreign languages and cultures, and Ignatian Spirituality. Email [email protected] Phone 478-508-2498
