Profile: Brianna Kocka is a Minnesota native whose life and work are shaped by a deep commitment to presence, meaning-making, and serving as a compassionate witness. Holding a BA in Literature and Philosophy and a Certificate in Worship Studies and Spiritual Formation from St. Stephen’s University, her studies nurtured a lifelong fascination with myth, ritual, and the human search for belonging. Over the past two decades, Brianna has woven these passions through a multifaceted career as a singer-songwriter, musician, and producer. Beyond her music, Brianna’s professional and personal paths reflect a deep calling toward service, transformation, and equity. She became a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) in 2021, affirming her dedication to intercultural awareness and inclusion, and in that same year completed her End of Life Doula training through the International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA)—a vocation born of her own lived experiences with grief, loss, and transformation. For more than 15 years, she has also worked in the nonprofit sector, supporting programming, governance, and operations, always centering her work on fostering authentic connection between people and their communities. Brianna is a proud member of the International End of Life Doula Association, the Minnesota Death Collaborative, and Spiritual Directors International. Her spiritual and creative life draws wisdom from many faith traditions, including Vipassana Buddhism, traditional and gnostic Christianity, Indigenous spirituality, Latvian Dievturība, and Celtic spirituality, and she finds inspiration in the work of teachers and thinkers such as Mirabai Starr, Peter Rollins, Ram Dass, Sharon Salzberg, Meggan Watterson, Richard Rohr, Cynthia Bourgeault, Wahinkpe Topa (Four Arrows), Yung Pueblo, Brené Brown, Karen Armstrong and many others. This integrative, soulful approach to life and work finds expression in Tairsà (pronounced tar-sha), the practice Brianna founded to honor the sacred transitions that shape human experience. Rooted in the understanding that every ending and beginning is a sacred passage, Tairsà offers compassionate, non-religious spiritual care through end-of-life doula support, spiritual direction, nature-centered retreats, and the creation of rituals and ceremonies that celebrate life’s many thresholds.
