Profile: Greetings Friends,
So, here's a bit about me.
Located on California's Central coast – USA, I am a spiritual director of twenty years, monk in a monastic community, and writer. I have been walking with the incarcerated for over twenty years and currently facilitate listening circles in the local prison where I am located. With twenty-eight years in recovery, I am well versed in Twelve-Step spirituality. I have published two books: OBLIVION – Grace in Exile with a Monk Behind Bars (2019) and THE GOSPEL LIFE (2021). My third book will be available in the summer of 2026.
I am ordained clergy in the Episcopal church, although the evolution of my path has guided me away from institutional structures and toward universal consciousness fostering interspiritual awareness and curiosity. I have a particular interest in the wisdom traditions of Hinduism, Shamanism, Native American Indian, and Celtic spirituality. My study of the mystics from all traditions is a life-long quest.
I have a consistent daily mediation practice and for years have taught contemplative spirituality. I often use Kirtan as a devotional practice and shamanic journeying as a portal to direct revelation. I also very much still connect deeply with the mystery of Holy Eucharist (Mass) in the Christian tradition.
I am practiced in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and at times use IFS guided mediations in sessions. I have been doing dream work for twenty-five years and well conditioned to companion others in the exploration of dreams as a spiritual practice of discovery.
I hope this brief bio gives you an idea of who I am and how I may be of value as a spiritual companion. If you have any questions feel free to email me at [email protected]
Love & Peace.
Brother Dennis
