Profile: My intent as a spiritual director/companion is to hold a safe, sacred space for you and journey with you on the spiritual path — listening without judgment, accepting without trying to "fix" things, walking alongside you (even if we are on a Zoom screen) through the ups and downs of life, and exploring wherever the Spirit might be leading you. Although I come out of the Christian (Catholic) tradition, I have a broad background that makes me comfortable speaking with people any faith or no faith at all. I consider every opportunity to join someone on the spiritual path a great gift; it is all grace. I am a graduate of Holy Ground, a two-year formation program for spiritual directors, based in Albany, NY. In addition, I have completed Holy Ground 2.0, a continuing education program for spiritual directors, as well as SDI's "Compassion-Based Spiritual Direction-Internal Family Systems" program. I am a retreat leader and a 200-hour certified/registered yoga teacher. I am also a trained meditation teacher and a 100-hour certified mindfulness coach and will happily use these skills as a complement to any work we do together, if requested. I am available in-person for those in New York's Capital Region, or via Zoom. I have found Zoom to be a beautiful way to bring together diverse and far-flung people on a shared path. To tell you a little bit more about me… I am a spiritual writer at heart, and I have been deeply influenced by the writings of two of my spiritual heroes: Thomas Merton and Henri Nouwen. I find their willingness to share their flaws and vulnerabilities make them powerful teachers, and I strive for a similar approach in my writing, retreats, yoga classes, and spiritual direction. I always tell people, "I am not an expert. I am on the journey with you." We are all walking this journey together, but so often we think we are alone. One of my goals is to help people see themselves with the eyes of compassion, to recognize that they are beloved just as they are at this moment, and to discover the Divine all around them in their everyday world. If you'd like to know more about me and my work, head on over to my website or social media platforms. Let us pray for each other. Peace and All Good, Mary
