Profile Details

Mika is a certified spiritual director and hospice nurse who has spent decades companioning others through the raw and sacred terrain of life. She has served in ministry both overseas and in the U.S., offering care across cultures, languages, and seasons of profound transition. Her work has taken her from hospital rooms to remote villages, from classrooms to sacred conversations held in whispers and tears. Through it all, she has become a tender witness to the resilience of the human spirit and the surprising grace of God. Sixteen of her twenty-five years as a nurse have been in hospice care — sitting beside the dying and those who love them, learning how to hold silence, sorrow, beauty, and unnameable mystery. Those experiences have shaped her vision for what it means to truly live. Death has taught her about presence, about what matters, and about how deeply we all long to be seen, known, and loved — not fixed, not rushed, but simply accompanied. Mika’s own life has not followed a straight line. It’s been marked by detours, heartbreaks, vocational shifts, and moments of spiritual disorientation — as well as unexpected joy, holy surprise, and healing in places she never imagined. Her story has given her a deep tenderness for those who feel out of place or undone. She holds space especially for those who feel displaced, disillusioned, or like they simply don’t fit — and for those who carry stories too heavy or complicated to share, even with God. If you’re disappointed, angry, or wondering whether God is still speaking, you are welcome here. Mika trusts sacred imagination, deep listening, and the slow wisdom of the Spirit. She brings a grounded, curious presence — not to lead but to walk alongside. She companions people navigating grief, burnout, deconstruction, chronic exhaustion, identity shifts, or the quiet unraveling of once-clear beliefs. Her work is not about advice or quick answers. It’s about presence, spaciousness, discernment, and awe. She believes the Sacred meets us in many places: in wind and water, in movement and stillness, in the beauty of language, the ache of longing, and the hidden wholeness within us all. You don’t have to be religious to be spiritual. You don’t need to have the words yet. You don’t need a polished story or a clear path. You just need to begin. Mika holds a Master’s in Spiritual Formation and Leadership from Spring Arbor University, is a certified spiritual director through Portland Seminary, and is a board-certified hospice and palliative care nurse.
