I’m Rev. Ryan Irmer, a spiritual director, pastor, and former basketball coach. Spiritual direction is a space to slow down and be heard. You share while I listen intently and ask the questions that help you go deeper, toward a closer relationship with God and the person you were made to be. I trained at Francis House of Prayer (Catholic Diocese of Trenton), where my formation was rooted in Ignatian spirituality and the Examen. I’m Lead Pastor of Wilson Memorial Union Church in Watchung, New Jersey, and a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary. My approach is Christian-based and ecumenical, and everyone is welcome, including those who have been hurt by organized religion. I’ve received spiritual direction myself for over a decade and remain in ongoing supervision. Before ministry, I spent twelve years coaching basketball at the high school and college levels. Those years showed me how much athletes, coaches, trainers, and staff carry, and how rarely they have a place to tend their inner life. I offer them a confidential space, with scheduling that works around a season. Whatever brings you (change, loss, a hard decision, or a simple longing for more of God), we’ll begin right where you are.
