SDI Educators Gathering – April 2026
Join us on April 22nd, 2026, from 11 am to 12:30 p.m. PST for the Spiritual Director Educators Gathering. This SDI Educators Gathering will explore contemporary transformational processes and themes that have not always been fully integrated into past spiritual direction training programs. The Center for Engaged Compassion (CEC) has identified three processes of transformational psycho-spiritual caregiving, and their contextualization in two embodied realties, that are augmenting previous spiritual direction training. These three processes are:
1) Contemplative Spiritual Direction
2) The Compassion Practice’s PULSE of Spiritual Restoration
3) Internal Family Systems (IFS)
With their contextualization in:
4) Our Somatic Embodiment
5) Our Culturally Located Social Identities
This Educators Gathering conversation will introduce these processes and themes and invite conversation about ways of integrating them and other complementary processes into current spiritual direction training.
Bio
Frank Rogers Jr. is a spiritual director, supervisor, certified IFS practitioner, retreat leader, writer, and professor of spiritual formation at the ecumenical and inter-faith Claremont School of Theology. He has taught spirituality, contemplative practice, and compassionate social engagement for over 30 years, and has written numerous articles and books including Cradled in the Arms of Compassion: A Spiritual journey from Trauma to Recovery; and Practicing Compassion. As the Co-Director for the Center for Engaged Compassion, he offers and teaches compassion-based approaches to spiritual direction and supervision.
