A Long Loving Look at the Real: The Work of Silence

In this talk, Sarah Bachelard will share how a practice of silent contemplative prayer deepens our listening and availability, enabling us to move beyond the impulse to control or fix and attend more truthfully to what is. There will be an opportunity to share in a brief time of meditation and reflect on the connection between contemplative practice and spiritual growth.

Sarah Bachelard is a theologian, retreat leader and founder of Benedictus Contemplative Church, based in Canberra, Australia. She is a teacher with the World Community for Christian Meditation, and her books include Experiencing God in a Time of Crisis, Poetica Divina: Poems to Redeem a Prose World, and Pools of Grace: The Gift and Call of Contemplative Worship. Sarah loves to discern connections between the wisdom of tradition, contemplative practice and lived experience.

Facilitated by Jane Mahon, SDI Australia Convenor. Jane is a Benedictine Oblate, police chaplain, and spiritual resilience teacher whose work sits at the intersection of spiritual companionship, frontline chaplaincy, and trauma-informed care.
