Profile: For spiritual direction Hello Everyone, Thank you for dropping by. My approach to spiritual companionship/spiritual direction is an organic one, with spirited conversation, prayer and meditation, with additional time allotted for creative expression. Imagery is the first language of the soul. I believe it is of vital importance to be connected with this primordial language. For this to happen, we need to listen deeply to the expression of imagery that surface, whether that is in conversation, or meditation. I believe we have a responsibility to understand this 'first' language, and how in turn, it directs us toward purpose and fulfillment in our lives. The witnessing of these images – this language – is a vital component, as it helps determine the nature of who we are, and who we are called to become. Time is spent determining key questions of life: Who am I? With a subtext of five underlying chapters – questions: What do I believe? What do I value? What is my purpose? What are my challenges? And – Who am I called to become? With this format in place, I believe the convergence of art and spirituality may provide portals toward spiritual renewal, personal empowerment, and transformation. The convergence of art and spirituality falls under the umbrella of pastoral (practical) theology and the arts. Years of study of the contemplative life, synched with an understanding of the mandala and the Indigenous red road and medicine wheel, are some of the threads that make up the fabric of this approach, along with a focus on archetypes, dreams, Jungian theories, and other well known concepts. Additional studies also include the facets and systems of religious church life, and consideration for what needs to change as we move forward into the 21st millennia. Gaining access to the murmurs of our heart's longing requires patience, perseverance, and deep listening. It is an ongoing process/practice as we face change – moment by moment – in our daily lives. However, over time, we gain the practical wisdom to be able to develop practices that nurture our inner life. These same ideas, concepts, approaches can also be used when dealing with corporate and organizational systems. Dynamics and addressing personal and professional needs may bring harmony to tense situations. Again, we learn to listen with an empathetic heart, and mind. When we work together on an online platform (e.g. zoom), you will be asked to set up a special place in your dwelling, a space where you feel comfortable, and can extend yourself to work on your creative pieces as well. Hopefully, it is a space that is solitary where you can have time uninterrupted. If the time arrives that you can visit here, there is space in my studio to work with your creative energy. As a Doctor of Ministry, my background also includes a Master of Pastoral Studies, A Master of Theological Studies, and a diploma in Recording Arts Management. I am also a Reiki Master, and a drum maker. I am an artist who engages with various media (painter, songwriter, photographer and writer) and artisan. (Drums, talking sticks, and the SASWE line of body products.) I participate in the belief of life-long learning. If you would like more information or a free introductory consult, feel free to drop me a message via my website (www.viviannelariviere.com) I look forward to hearing from you, and I wish you peace for your journey.
