Profile: Rev. Tara Brown
I’m Tara I am an Ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. I live on few acres in Olympia, WA, where I’m slowly growing a community garden. I am a single mom of two teenage boys. I grew up in the PNW where life has taken me through many transitions. Liminal spaces continue to teach me how to live in the paradox of grief and expectation. In ministry I have served college campuses, parishes, and hospice, each has been an opportunity to learn and be changed. I enjoy backpacking, yoga, and a good heartfelt laugh. Most mornings I begin outside—reading poetry, listening to birdsong, and settling into stillness. My work is grounded in the belief that being fully present connects us more deeply with ourselves, each other, the earth, and mystery. Spiritual direction can be a lifelong practice, often emerging in seasons of transition, loss, or awakening. Whether you're navigating grief, seeking deeper meaning, or standing at the edge of something new—I offer a compassionate, judgment-free space to listen together for the sacred unfolding in your life. My approach is rooted in deep listening, creative expression, and embodied presence. Sessions might include silence, poetry, breath work, ritual, or simply sitting with questions that don’t need answers. I welcome individuals of any or no faith background. I also work with communities seeking retreat facilitation or spiritual renewal. In-person sessions are available in Olympia, WA, and I also meet virtually with directees.
