Profile: The basis of my spiritual direction/companion work is my life as a Quaker. Our central tenet is that there is “that of God” in everyone. We honor and cherish that in each person we meet. it is my joy to help people discover the blessing of “that of God” within themselves, to explore the delight and solace that realization brings and to use it to find their way and find support through challenges and sorrows. Douglas Steere speaks my mind when he writes,” Holy listening—to ‘listen” another’s soul into life, into a condition of disclosure and discovery, may be almost the greatest service that any human being ever performs for another.” Over the years, I have been blessed to find loving people who have the gift of listening presence. For example, my spouse served as a chaplain and founded the Spiritual Formation Program at Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker). Besides my mother, he was my first model of such a presence. I joined him in the Spiritual Formation program 25 years ago, and, with other Facilitator/Friends, we have offered dozens of workshops to help others experience the companionship of a listening presence. I also spent three years training as a s spiritual director with Oasis Ministries and have continued to practice this gift in the ensuing years. I welcome anyone who has a desire to grow in the Spirit, to re-discover Spirit’s abiding love and presence. Please join me for a time of spiritual renewal and loving peace.
