Profile: The Episcopal House of Prayer in Collegeville, MN USA is a retreat center nestled on five wooded acres provided by Saint John’s Abbey. We offer weekly contemplative prayer and retreat programming. The space is also available for rent by companies and organizations for meetings and retreats. We also welcome individual retreatants. Our Mission Our Mission is to assist in the ongoing work of discerning God's voice, both within ourselves and in the world; provide guidance in the search for wisdom; teach all forms of contemplative prayer; offer training in the inner work of the spiritual life. Our Vision The vision of the Episcopal House of Prayer is to be a contemplative ministry of spiritual transformation, grounded in the Christian tradition, in the practice of Benedictine hospitality, reaching out and welcoming all. Our Director Christine Luna Munger currently serves as the Director of the Episcopal House of Prayer in Collegeville, MN. She served as Coordinator & Professional Professor of Theology for the Spiritual Direction Certificate in the graduate department of Theology at St. Catherine University from 2012-2018. She is a College of Saint Benedict alumna ('02) and graduated with a double major in Theology and Peace Studies. Christine completed her master’s degree in Christian Spirituality at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, with a certificate in Spiritual Direction and Retreat Direction (‘06). Christine completed doctoral studies in Practical Theology at Saint Thomas University in Miami (’14). The title of her dissertation is, Five Ordinary Movements for Practical Theological Spiritual Formation. Christine also completed training as a supervisor for spiritual directors through Together in the Mystery (2016). Christine has published resources for spiritual direction for Spiritual Directors International (SDI), including the Comparison of Helping Relationships chart, a brochure—What to Expect in Christian Spiritual Direction, two SDI Learns from…videos, and an article in the journal Presence: An International Journal of Spiritual Direction entitled, Five Ordinary Movements in Spiritual Direction (June 2019). Christine is a wife and mother of two young children. She is bilingual (English & Spanish) and enjoys all forms of dance, swimming, and being outdoors.
