Profile: I am a certified spiritual director trained at Loyola University Chicago's Institute for Pastoral Studies. I am also a professor of English, published novelist and creative writer in all genres, and retreat leader affiliated with the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, a Cistercian monastery in Conyers, GA. At the University of West Georgia, I have co-taught classes on interfaith dialogue and contemplative learning for an interfaith/secular audience, and I have lead faculty groups on midlife transitions, working through creative blocks, and the spirituality of silence. I enjoy meeting pilgrims on their journeys and learning each human being's unique language for Faith. My own advanced training is in SoulCollageâ„¢, Group Spiritual Direction, and accompanying individuals in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. I have advanced training with Fr. Bill Creed, a Jesuit priest and founder of the Ignatian Spirituality Project, in the Exercises and enjoy accompanying pilgrims on this unique journey. My own interests include writing, photography, imaginative prayer, centering prayer, and baking, and I am comfortable working with those whom I accompany using creative avenues of spiritual exploration/expression. I meet with seekers both in-person and on zoom, and am equally comfortable with both. My favorite spiritual writers are Martin Laird, Shusaku Endo, Joyce Rupp, Margaret Silf, and Mark Thibodeaux. I believe in ongoing training as a director/companion, and I am presently taking a class on Theologies of Suffering. While my own home-base is Christian/Catholic, I am comfortable accompanying seekers of all faiths and walks of life. If you'd like to know more, please don't hesitate to reach out.
