The Spirituality of Immigration
Gather to listen, discuss, and discern the spiritual and social impact of migration on individuals, and to ascertain how spiritual companions might best accompany immigrant communities.
This offering is designed to support spiritual companions in exploring the sacred dimensions of the immigrant experience—deepening our understanding, cultivating compassionate presence, and discerning how we might accompany those who journey across borders with courage, loss, resilience, and hope.
In this gathering, we will explore:
- The spiritual and emotional impact of the immigrant experience
- How to recognize and respond to the unique needs of immigrant seekers
- The role of compassionate, contemplative listening in accompanying migrants
- Cultural and theological reflections on migration and belonging
- Spiritual practices that support integration, resilience, and healing
- Stories and lived experiences from immigrant communities
- How to care for yourself as a spiritual companion in this work
- When and how to engage or refer to other forms of support and advocacy
