DESCRIPTION:The transforming power of queer rituals \n\n\n\nWe are especially honored to welcome Rabbi Chaya Gusfield for this gathering. In our precious time together\, we will explore the role of rituals in the queer community– intentional practices of reclamation\, healing\, and joy designed to honor our milestones\, bodies\, and identities\, opening and closing rituals in our spiritual direction sessions. Also\, we will explore how rituals impact the spiritual lives of our directees. \n\n\n\nBring yourself\, a journal\, and an open mind/heart. \n\n\n\nThis one hour session is for those that identify as LGBTQIA+\, including nonbinary\, gender fluid\, genderqueer\, bi-gender\, and agender spiritual directors and spiritual companions who would like to connect with other LGBTQIA+ spiritual directors and spiritual companions. \n\n\n\nAbout Rabbi Chaya Gusfield: \n\n\n\nRabbi Chaya Gusfield is a spiritual director serving individuals\, groups\, and rabbinical students. She is also a Retired Board-Certified Chaplain\, mom\, writer\, and artist. She is passionate about creative expression as a path to deepen spirituality and cope with grief and illness. She has been on an active spiritual leadership path for more than 20 years and continues to learn more every day. DESCRIPTION:Join Joan Alexander for an Introduction to the Labyrinth: \n\n\n\nAn ancient path that offers a powerful welcome to all those who find it. With music\, movement\, and blessings\, you will be guided on a virtual walk with invitations to pause along the path for quiet contemplation. \n\n\n\nAlso\, you will have the choice of meeting in small groups to discuss your walk OR you may stay in the main room with Joan to virtually walk the Ghost Ranch labyrinth in New Mexico\, USA. And\, you will come away with tools to bring the labyrinth into your practice of spiritual companionship with others. \n\n\n\nEvent is open to all spiritual directors and companions in Canada. \n\n\n\nFacilitated By\n\n\n\n\nJoan Alexander (she/her) currently lives in Ottawa\, ON\, Canada and has a robust practice of seekers\, supervisees and students. DESCRIPTION:Listening Beyond – A Presentation for SDI European Gathering with Andrew Rudd \n\n\n\nAs spiritual companions in Europe\, we are keenly aware of the barriers of difference\, the need for healing life to flow through us into the wider community. In this session we will explore together the horizons of spiritual accompaniment\, the listening beyond. \n\n\n\nBeyond the horizons each of us have\, of cognitive understanding\, faith tradition\, social or cultural differences\, habitual practice. Beyond words\, beyond ideas\, beyond self-interest.  We realize now that everything that matters is beyond us. \n\n\n\nWe will use some texts from Andrew’s new book\, The Listening Path: living attentively. In reflective silence and small group interactions\, we will seek to recognise our own edges\, personal horizons\, unhelpful boundaries – and then begin to listen for what calls us beyond. In this silence we might look out from our small corners and join the wider conversation. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAndrew Rudd is a poet\, teacher and leader of retreats and quiet days\, who loves to listen to people in spiritual accompaniment. He currently is the convener of SALT (Spiritual Accompaniment Learning Together) a small but innovative course for the formation of spiritual companions. Andrew has a PhD in spirituality and poetry\, and his poetry is widely published. He was poet in residence at Manchester Cathedral from 2017-2022 and is a Lay Minister in the Church of England.
