Special Gatherings
SDI is delighted to let you know about three special gatherings – all free for conference participants – which will take place during our Engage 2022 Conference.
Each 2-hour session will take place during the noon break and are considered a “Working Lunch”.
To sign up, please register for the conference first by clicking the button below. You will be offered the opportunity to sign up along with your registration.
If you have already purchased the conference, please check your email for a registration link. You do not need to purchase the conference again to gain access to these sessions.

BIPOC Gathering

This session is for those that identify as Black, Indigenous or a person of color who would like to connect with other BIPOC spiritual directors and spiritual companions.
(Please note this initial meeting will be “BIPOC only,” with the intention of having broader meetings with allies eventually.)
White Privilege and Spiritual Direction - A Working Lunch

In this working lunch session, Rev. Jane Vennard will facilitate a follow-up discussion to the White Privilege and Spiritual Direction webinar offered in Fall 2021 by SDI.
No registration required. This session is open to all, but the discussion will be geared towards spiritual directors or companions who identify as white. It is highly encouraged that you have participated in a White Privilege workshop, or have watched the White Privilege webinar recordings, which is free to SDI Members and available here: White Privilege in Spiritual Direction and Companionship – SDI Companions
LGBTQIA+ Conference Gathering
Friday, May 13, 2022 - (12:00 - 14:00 MDT) - "Working Lunch"
This session is for those that identify as LGBTQIA+, including nonbinary, gender fluid, genderqueer, bi-gender, and agender spiritual directors and spiritual companions who would like to connect with other LGBTQIA+ spiritual directors and spiritual companions.
(Please note this meeting will be only for those identifying as above – with the intention of having broader meetings with allies eventually.)
Regional Communities Gathering
Saturday, May 14, 2022 - (12:00 - 14:00 MDT) - "Working Lunch"
This gathering is for those people interested in learning about building or joining Spiritual Director/Companion networks in their local communities. Here you can join other conveners and aspiring conveners as we learn from each other. Bruce C. Calvin will also lead a collaborative discussion where stories of what has worked and what hasn’t can be shared in a relaxed atmosphere.
