Spiritual Direction as Prophetic Ministry

As we listen to God’s call to us as individuals and to the people we serve, we sense a profound awakening moving many to respond to the injustice and immorality all around us. What is our role as spiritual directors to honor these callings?

We will explore how our own social location influences our connection and availability to ourselves and with our directees. We will listen for what we sometimes want to avoid.

We will examine how white privilege/white supremacy and implicit bias affects our work as Spiritual directors. We will ponder the evolution of spiritual direction to be part of the liberation of our world and of creating beloved community.

Through contemplative practices we will listen for ways to  discern, practice  self-care and to feed our prophetic role as spiritual directors.

We invite you to join us in listening to Spirit and to prophets from all times to assist us in greater liberation for ourselves and for all people.
